Author Debra Berry’s Be Restored! has encouraged and uplifted readers for more than a decade. She is a gifted communicator, whose life models service to others. She empowers others with writings. Debra is the NBCA Director of Publishing Administration for the Publishing Division of the Sunday School Publishing Board, National Baptist Convention, USA, Inc. (sspnbc.org). In her role, she manages the content and media of this historic entity.
As ministry consultant at Woman’s Missionary Union (WMU), Auxiliary to the Southern Baptist Convention, Berry’s encouragement in speaking engagements, including for the Sisters Who Care network, helped to launch a powerful sisterhood for African-American women throughout the US.
Debra also served as former Wing Chaplain of the 117th Air Refueling Wing, Birmingham, Alabama, is a retired Lieutenant Colonel, and the first African-American woman to serve as a chaplain in the US National Guard.
She served as the international program chair for the Baptist World Alliance (BWA) 16th Youth World Conference, Singapore, 2013. A BWA youth executive committee member, she also serves the BWA Commission on Human Rights Advocacy as a member.
Debra Berry graduated with honors from South Carolina State University with a BA in professional sociology. She is also a high honors graduate of The Interdenominational Theological Center, Morehouse School of Religion with a Mdiv in Christian education concentration.
